GT1 = Dealer Group Tester 1, a factory hardware & software testing & coding system used by BMW dealers up to 2005 (see DIS & DISplus) GT1 = Some people refer to the true dealer software, DIS v44 as GT1, even though GT1 is actually the hardware that came loaded with DIS software. Nov 18, 2015 From what I understand, DIS v44 can do this. I've been being a diligent boy and searching the interwebs but am having a heck of a time. I found this thread which details setting up the VMWare virtual machine and installing EasyDIS v44, but the pictures and, more importantly, the download links, are missing.

I'm confused. I'm sure others are too.
What software can set and unset the autolock feature of the BMW E39?
I'll embarrass myself by making a stab at which programs can set and unset E39 automatic doorlocks (please correct my errors!) and I will add corrections as they come in (EDIT: Here was a great correction (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5634144&postcount=34).)
KEY:
NO = Does not set or unset BMW automatic door lock features
YES = Does set and unset BMW automatic door lock features
SUMMARY:
YES: GT1, Progman, Easy-DIS v44 only, NCS Expert, INPA, Carsoft (v7.x & v8.x only)
NO: Peake, Carsoft v6.x, Easy-DIS versions after v44
Recommended:
~$250: Carsoft, version 7.x & 8.x, CarsoftInternational (http://www.carsoftinternational.com/bmw73/carsoft_bmwv73.htm) (not earlier versions)
~$500: GT1, version DIS SSS?, BMW group tester 1 (http://www.auto-diagnostics.info/bmw_gt1)
~$???: Progman, v?, seems to have superceded Easy-DIS
Not Recommended:
~$???: NCSExpert, version?, by from ?, not user friendly (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5634144&postcount=34)
~$450: INPA, version 2006?, buy from ?, not user friendly (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5634144&postcount=34)
~$???: Easy-DIS v44 only (later versions do not unset autolock), seems to have been superceded by Progman
Note: I'm not sure I know what these 'things' are, and some look like a subset of the others (which shows my ignorance); so a short explanation of each would also be useful from someone who knows what they are.
Note: EDIABAS is the communication protocol used by Easy-DIS & GT1 & INPA for diagnostics/programming but is not actually a program. But using the EDIABAS protocol allows for any type of coding/programming to occur.
Note: Carsoft 6.x does actually program the car memory - it just doesn't code the key hence where problems arise for many. The only memory settings available for the key pertains to the Central locking.
Disclaimer: This thread is not intended to 'debate' the merits of WHY anyone would want to set or unset any particular feature which already exists aplenty elsewhere (1 (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=338734)) (2 (https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421857)) (3 (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1391667)).

Gents,
Exploring the world of BMW.
Have the white K+DCAN interface working in VMware with files downloaded from the forum with INPA, DIS57 and progman. Working means seen data coming out on the K-Line with the oscilloscope. I do not have a BMW to test.
Stumbled upon the DIS44 version which seems to be able to be installed on a T30.
I learned the yellow diag head can work with this. And... I have one lying around in my electronics workshop which still seems to be ok. At least the Led's are a live.
I really like to make this native installation at least once, just to learn from the steps, in addition I can test the diaghead:
I have downloaded:
- EasyDis V44 Base iso
- GT1_V44 Programs iso
Starting with a fresh 20GB harddisk.
Installation is running... now a 12 minutes delay on the screen.
If anyone has a guide available and/or tips then I would appreciate that info.
UPDATE:
Did it guys!!
My first experience with a UNIX system.
I wonder why people complain about Windows, or even DOS??!!
Nothing wrong with those operating systems!
So..
Installed DIS and loaded the program disc.
Connected the yellow diaghead and it was recognized without any problems.
Now I have to find a BMW to see if actually any data is being transferred between my laptop and the car or not.
This is just to get familiar with the BMW systems.
Eventually I will use the ICOM A2 & ISTA soft for all jobs, but this is good to build experience.
